Rainbow Bridge
The Rainbow Bridge Story
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been
especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they
can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are
warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and
old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed
are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our
dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left
behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Golda...my
punkin' pie. Oh she was a handful! She was my first dog.
Born March 8, 1983 I brought her home in May when she was eight
weeks old. I was told she would settle down when she would get
to be four or five. She loved to swim and even to the age of
13, she loved to jump off the dock and retrieve an inner tube and
drag it back to shore.
| Toby...my blessed little boy. It took several months after Golda passed before I was ready to give my heart to another dog. But Toby was worth the wait. Toby was such a good boy and loved toys and chasing the kong. He too, loved to swim and hated it when it was time to get in the car and leave the cottage. I'm sure he couldn't understand why we would leave such a wonderful place to return to Oshkosh! |

Rusty was my first "rescue". A co-worker asked if I knew anyone who would want a golden retriever. I said I would. Rusty was 2 years old and Toby 4. They became friends immediately. How those two loved to play with each other in the backyard. And, at the cottage, they loved to swim together. |

I lost both Toby and Rusty in 2005...4 months apart.
| Rogan rescued me. After losing both Toby and Rusty I was miserable. I stopped at the animal shelter and there Rogan was. A stray...just moved up front for adoption. I brought him home a week later. I felt as if all was right with the world again. He was a wonderful big brother to Anya. How often those two would walk side-by-side, step for step. How I miss my boy. |

| Moxie - my
black and white beauty. She was a wonderful cat...so
sweet and so gentle. Patsy Cline - she too was a sweet cat and a flawless beauty. I miss them both and learned a lot about tolerance and patience from those two. |
